SAN TAN VALLEY, ARIZ. – The J.O. Combs Unified School District is proud to receive global recognition for a financial reporting distinction from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International.
For the eleventh year in a row, the District has been awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE) from ASBO for the fiscal year ending 2021.
This award recognizes districts that have met the program’s high standards for financial reporting and transparency. Applicants submit their ACFR for review by a team of financial professionals who provide feedback to improve future documents. If the report meets the requirements of the program, it
may receive the Certificate of Excellence. A district’s participation in the COE program can facilitate bond rating and continuing bond disclosure processes.
“The COE’s mission is to promote and recognize excellence in financial reporting,” ASBO International Executive Director David Lewis says. “The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report informs stakeholders about the financial and economic state of the district, making it an important communications tool for building trust and engaging with the school community.”
“This recognition epitomizes our organization’s commitment to transparency and fiscal responsibility,” says Business Services Director, Julie Cook. “I am proud of our team for continuing to meet the highest financial reporting standards, which ultimately allows us to serve those who matter most: our students.”
District Superintendent Dr. Greg Wyman will recognize these achievements at an upcoming Governing Board meeting where he will present the award to District staff.
The J.O. Combs Unified School District prepares these financial reports annually to responsibly demonstrate where its money comes from and how it is spent.
