QUEEN CREEK, AZ – The Queen Creek Family Resource Center supported by First Things First celebrated the grand opening of their new resource center in Queen Creek on Wednesday, June 18th. They are located in Wonderwise Preschool at 21259 E Ocotillo Rd. In attendance included the Queen Creek Chamber of Commerce, Queen Creek Mayor Julia Wheatley, Queen Creek Vice Mayor Leah Martineau, Queen Creek Town Council Member Bryan McClure, local business owners, First Things First, and staff from the resource center.

The Queen Creek Family Resource Center offers free parent and children learning activities, resources, referrals, and support to parents, families, and caregivers with children ages birth to five. Programming includes little chefs, playful learning, a parent connection cafe, a kids zone, parent education and resources, and more all located in one convenient spot.
“This is so incredibly exciting to have this in our community. While this has just opened a few months ago, it’s already creating such an important space for families to gather. It gives access to parents and caregivers for resources, information, receive support, and to meet other parents and caregivers with similar aged children.” said Queen Creek Mayor Wheatley. “This is so important to our Town Council that every April, the Queen Creek Town Council recognizes “Week of the Young Child” with a proclamation that highlights the importance of early childhood education. Funding quality childcare is a smart investment that improves family well-being, strengthens communities, and grows our state’s prosperity. I want to extend an immense thank you to First Things First Arizona, who is funding this incredible resource center. We are so grateful that First Things First has chosen Queen Creek as a location for one of their resource centers. I also want to extend a warm thank you to Wonderwise Preschool for supplying the space for this to happen.” said Mayor Wheatley.
First Things First Arizona was created by an Arizona voter-initiative that funds early education and health programs to prepare young children to succeed in kindergarten and beyond. First Things First is Arizona’s only public funding source dedicated exclusively to early childhood, the beginning of our state’s education continuum. “The First Things First Southeast Maricopa Regional Partnership Council is so excited to invest in this family resource center here in Queen Creek. Regional Council Members strategically plan five family resource centers throughout the region and Queen Creek was one of those centers.” said Sheri Collins, First Things First Regional Director for the Southeast Maricopa Region. “We are so pleased to partner with the Town of Queen Creek and Wonderwise Preschool to bring this valuable resource to the families of Queen Creek to support their young child’s development. With efforts like this, it really helps set the stage for Queen Creek’s future and also Arizona’s future for children to not only have a great start at kindergarten but beyond.”
