Join Ranger Nikki on an easy to moderate hike to watch the sunset, the full moonrise and the desert aglow. Click program title for more details.
Ranger Nikki leads this hike to watch the sun set behind the mountains and the full moon rise to the east. We will listen for coyote and owl calls and watch for bat silhouettes against the dimly lit sky. Bring your blacklight and regular flashlight to look for other evening critters such as scorpions, kangaroo rats, stink bugs and more. The route uses Moonlight, Stargazer and San Tan Trails for a 2.2-mile loop. The terrain ranges from even and smooth to uneven with small to medium rocks underfoot. No pets, please. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring plenty of water. Restrooms and water are available at the Nature Center. Please bring $7 exact cash for the self-pay station or your annual pass to display on your vehicle.
MEETING LOCATION: Main Trailhead picnic table.
