Position Summary: The Development Manager will serve as a team lead and administrator for several aspects of donor relations at House of Refuge. House of Refuge relies on private support to achieve its mission of helping homeless families in crisis by providing transitional housing and supportive services as they strive towards self-sufficiency and seek to obtain permanent housing. By providing consistent, timely, and systematic invitations, acknowledgement, reporting, recognition, and engagement opportunities, the activities of this position will help to build, sustain, and nurture long-term giving relationships to help the homeless families we serve. The Manager will lead the development and execution of plans to secure all types of gifts, including gifts of time and talents, in-kind donations, community drives and cash donations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Manager is responsible for proactively partnering with colleagues from other areas to ensure community support for the residents in our programs and donor satisfaction.

This position oversees the utilization of technology and the use of the DonorPerfect database system to maximize donor relations and stewardship efforts. This position directly supervises the following employees: Volunteer Coordinator and Development Associate. In addition to supervising these positions, the Manager will also:
• Provide leadership for the organization’s fundraising events.
• Represents House of Refuge at public events and presents organization mission and needs in civic groups and other settings
• Manage revenue and drive efforts from 3rd parties such as community groups, churches, schools and other outside organizations.
• Drives donor retention initiatives to meet and exceed strategic plan.
• Initiates and institutes donor retention plan of action.
• Staff liaison to the Gala Committee including but not limited to: planning, committee meetings, execution and data entry.
• Provides support to CDO, committees, staff, and volunteers for all fundraising campaigns.
• Participates in strategy development and problem-solving with the CDO as required.
• Assists CDO with developing a comprehensive strategic plan with staff, outlining targeted goals, objectives, methods, quantifiable outcomes, and timelines which will achieve budgeted goals.
• Compile and maintain relevant data for reporting on the development plan and strategy.
• Develop, implement, monitor, and evaluate relevant policies and procedures for job related duties.
• Aide in fostering the expansion of financial support derived from in-kind donors and drives.
• Oversees strengthening the recruitment, retention, and placement of volunteer efforts for the agency.
• Oversee recognition of gift giving including acknowledgment letters and thank you calls to donors under the $5,000 level.
• Oversees the fundraising software. Manages event software for events including annual gala, entering and tracking of all donations, donors, ticket purchases, and sponsors.
• Administrator for Development team online presence and software i.e. volunteer software, social media.
• Prepare regular reports and written communication on the budget and all fund development activities for their position.
• Other duties and responsibilities as required to advance relationships with donors, boost donor retention and facilitate transformational giving to help our homeless families.
Interpersonal Relationships: The Manager has significant, daily contact with people related to House of Refuge. Contacts are for the purpose of broadening the circle of influence of people who can support House of Refuge.
Contacts by the Manager may require the exercise of considerable judgment, discretion, and diplomacy, while creating interest in House of Refuge. An understanding of the mission, vision and financial needs of House of Refuge. The Manager deals regularly with sensitive and/or confidential information and therefore must exercise considerable skill in information handling and privacy of records. Extraordinary interpersonal skills and a warm, welcoming personality are expected.
Education/Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Nonprofit fundraising experience with quantifiable track record required.
• Experience with a donor database; DonorPerfect & QGiv preferred.
• Must agree to, and successfully pass a criminal background and drug test.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

• Basic understanding of the non-profit sector and homeless population preferred.
• Ability to work flexible hours. Hours: Regular business hours at House of Refuge are Monday-
Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The ADD must be willing to work flexible hours and days, both in and out of the office, a minimum of 40 hours a week. The schedule will be determined by the
changing needs of the business.
Job Type: Full-time Salary Range: $55,000-$65,000
