Meta Donates $51K to Queen Creek Schools

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

June 29, 2023

Queen Creek, Ariz.- Meta, the international tech giant and business partner, is donating $51,000 to the Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD). This donation will provide new technology in elementary and high school classrooms.

Eastmark High School (EHS) will be using the donation to outfit a new computer lab with 25 desktop computers. Students in EHS’s STEM Career Path Academy will use these computers while developing industry-level programming skills.

“We are revamping our computer science programming at Eartmark,” said Director of College and Career Readiness and CTE Heidi Lee. “Meta is helping with that by providing computers so that our students in this course will be more industry ready and get jobs right out of high school.”

QCUSD elementary schools will use the funds to purchase Ozobots which will help students to understand the foundations of programming and robotics.

Since coming to the area in 2021, Meta has partnered with local schools to promote STEM education. Last year, Meta donated $55K in funds to QCUSD junior high robotic programs to purchase robotics kits and provide interactive engineering opportunities to students.

“We’re grateful to have the partnership with Meta, and we’re excited to bring them into our schools,” said Lee. “Our kids will become more competitive with the skills they will be learning.”
